Greetings all, blog time again. Aren't the nights drawing in? Our march up the table continues with another weekend without defeat. Another mixed bag from us on Saturday but we're still unbeaten away from home, and Kev Mac got to put some demons to bed. Stepping up under pressure can make the goal shrink and the keeper look like Geoff Capes, so I was delighted when he smashed it in to the top corner; and happy that we came away with something from the game (other than blinding glare from our day-glo 3rd kit). I'm sure we've played better but it was pleasing to battle back and grind out a result, qualities that we will no doubt need throughout the season.

We have a busy schedule over the next month, starting with a tough game against Chester at the weekend. Both teams have lads that have played for the other, that always adds something to the game- but they have started well and we want to perform at home after the Wycombe defeat so it should be a good contest. I'll give a tenner (no handshake) to anyone who doesn't hear that annoying fact about their ground being in 2 Countries this weekend....

I tagged along with my mate on Sunday to Old Trafford for the Chelsea game, and it was good to see some of the world's best in action. It's just a shame that Mourinho was not in charge as he's always been value for money when they win or lose. They appear to have replaced him with what looks like an evil puppet from Captain Scarlett- with a name to fit (see what I did puppet / Abramovich..). But good luck to Avram Grant, after the way the game went he may need it. I'm not going to slag off Chelsea though, as they seemed to be pretty good to the boys last year after the FA cup game. Mind you, it's easier to be magnanimous when you've just won 6-1.

On another completely unrelated football point has anyone else been watching the womens' World Cup? No doubt you were as disappointed as I to see the Scandanavian teams all go out, particularly the Swedes. Especially the Swedes. Without being completely patronising I thought the games that I saw were great, and the Women's game doesn't deserve some of the criticism it has received from some quarters. And why does everyone say the keepers are dodgy? Alright maybe the Argentinean one resembled a cat-flap in the 11-0 against Germany, but the others were decent! Tommy Lee would stick up for them, but that's because he shares a haircut with a good few....

And as my old man used to say to me as a kid - 'get an employable haircut'. Never seen a haircut with a job before dad.
