Gareth can't wait to get going
The players report back for the start of pre-season training this week and there's no one looking forward to it more than Gareth Evans.
The striker recently put pen to paper on a new one year deal after an impressive first season at the Moss Rose, his committed displays and undoubted eye for goal a hit with the Silkmen faithful.
"Last year was a huge learning curve for me but one I thoroughly enjoyed. Whilst I should probably have scored a few more goals, overall I was pleased with the way things went and I would like to think the fans can expect a lot more from me this time around," explained Gareth.
"I've managed to get away on holiday and keep myself fit over the summer and the batteries are fully recharged and I can't wait to get back this week. The gaffer has kept the core of the squad that did so well towards the end of the season together which is great. But you always need some fresh blood so it will be good to meet up with the new boys later this week."
"The gaffer as big fan of getting games under your belt and judging by the number of pre-season friendlies we certainly aren't going to have any excuses when the season starts in six weeks time. Travelling to Ireland will be a new experience for me and one I am really looking forward to. By going away for a few days it will give us a chance to get to know each other and I think it is a really good idea."
"I know it is a big season for me personally. And that's why having the security of a contract is a big plus as most of the early part of last season I was on a short term deal. I suppose the uncertainty was always in the back of my mind but now armed with twelve months I know I can really focus on improving as a player and knocking in the goals for the Silkmen."
