Terry Dunfield is the Player of the Year
All in all it was a good day for the Silkmen yesterday. After Gareth Evans' 20th birthday goal had clinched three points against Chesterfield, and Football League safety into the bargain, the McIlroy Suite was packed in the evening for the Player of the Year awards, organised by the Silkmen Supporters Trust. Attended by Keith Alexander, Gary Simpson, Mike Rance, Andy Scott, the majority of the first team and youth squads, and many supporters, a good time was had by all.
The evening kicked off with a quiz MC'd by Andy Worth, and finished with music from Zig and Zog on the decks. In between we had the players spread out throught the Suite sitting 2 or 3 to a table, player kit sponsors were given their signed shirts, a buffet prepared by chef Richard Astbury and his team, and of course the annual awards.
The supporters' Player of the Year was Terry Dunfield, with Franny Green as runner up. Player's Player of the Year was Danny Thomas.
Other awards were:-
Youth Team Player of the Year - Shaun Brisley
Junior Silkmen Player of the Year - Danny Thomas
Andy Mellor Award - Jon Brain
Jean Ridgeway Award - Danny Thomas
