Beaten by the better team
"Of course I am disappointed. We came here tonight and tried to battle but sometimes you just have to hold up your hands and admit that you were beaten by the better team. I don't mind saying that. Our job now is to get our heads up and focus on the game against Barnet which we always knew was going to be a big game."
"We were lacking a bit of quality today and gave away two bad goals at the start of each half. As the away side you're always looking to keep things tight at the back for the first twenty minutes or so. We weren't able to do that and as a result gave ourselves a mountain to climb."
"We said at half time that if we could get through those first twenty minutes we were always going to have a chance. However within a minute of the restart Jon, who has been magnificent in recent weeks for me, dropped the ball at the feet of one of their players and we were two nil down."
"But Jim Gannon has had a long time to put his side together. At times I know they think they are Read Madrid and I wasn't happy with some of things that was coming from their bench. He was trying to run the game for his team from the line. I wasn't having that. We had words. That's life."
"Beating Stockport would have made a big difference to our league position. No one expected us to win but I was hoping for a better performance. But we know that we have to beat the sides around us in the table starting with Barnet on Monday. I was told before I came here that sometimes the side was lacking a bit of endeavour. That won't happen whilst I am here. We just need to match that with a bit of quality and tonight we weren't able to do that."
"There was a fantastic travelling support here tonight. We didn't really give them much to shout about but hopefully they'll be out in force again on Monday. There's every chance we'll be without the services of Martin Gritton who felt his groin go again today. But we've got one or two who were disappointed not to have played tonight and Izak looked lively when he came on. So there are options. It's up to the players now to get some good rest over the weekend and get the result we need against Barnet."
