Midfielder James Ashmore today returned to Bramall Lane after it was agreed to cut short his loan deal due to lack of first team opportunites.

"James hasn't featured in the side since Keith's arrival and we felt it was best all round that he return to Sheffield United," explained Chief Executive Patrick Nelson. "We of course wish him well and thank him for his efforts during his time at the Moss Rose."

James made his debut in the 1-0 win at Peterborough and made seven starts and one appearance from the bench. He was part of the team that won at Morecambe and achieved creditable draws at Darlington and the MK Dons.
