When referee Neil Swarbrick blew his whistle to start Saturday's game with Shrewsbury Town there was something slightly different on view at the Moss Rose?
Did you spot it? It certainly caught out Gareth Evans when he was substituted midway through the second half.
The Silkmen had changed dug outs. So having shaken hands with his replacement Scott Spencer, the young striker turned to his right and was heading to the wrong bench. Spotting unfamiliar faces he quickly remembered and did an about turn.
It certainly bought a smile to the face of Keith Alexander, the man behind the change.
"Sometimes change is a good thing, no matter what it is. And we certainly needed to freshen things up a bit. But I genuinely thought it was silly that as the home team we were having to traipse up to past the half way line to get to our bench. It may sound a small thing but you need to make as much of your home advantage as possible. So to have the opposition walking up there gives the home fans a bit of a chance to make them feel welcome!"
"And whilst I am sure if didn't really have that much of an impact, perhaps our new bench is a lucky one. It certainly seems to have been for most of the season judging by the number of away wins!"
