Silkmen boss Keith Alexander made another foray into the transfer market today with the signings of defender Richard Walker and Scott Spencer.

Centre Half Walker was released by Port Vale earlier this season after failing to feature at Vale Park and he joins us on an initial one month deal. He has made over 100 appearances in his career to date, the majority for Crewe Alexandra in the Championship. His last competitive appearance was for Wrexham whilst out on loan last season, the opposition that day, Macclesfield Town!

Centre Forward Spencer arrives on a one month's emergency loan deal from Everton. Scott joined the Toffees in a high profile deal from Oldham back in 2006 for a reputed £200k. Just seventeen at the time he was described by many as the 'next Wayne Rooney'. Two years on his has yet to feature in the Everton first team but is still held in high regard and had a spell on loan with Yeovil earlier this season.

Scott Spencer

"I am delighted to get Richard and Scott down to the Moss Rose. Both will be travel with the squad when we set off to Brentford later today and are in contention for a place in the sixteen," explained the manager.

"Richard is a very solid player and gives us extra options at the back whilst Scott has got undoubted talent. We've not been scoring enough goals in recent weeks so hopefully he can give us an extra dimension," he added.
