Time to look forward

Silkmen Online caught up with former boss Ian Brightwell today who kindly agreed to speak with us and share his thoughts about the decision to dispense with his services last week.
"I would be lying if I said I wasn't disappointed," said Ian. "But I've been in the game long enough to know it's a result driven business and that our league position wasn't what it needed to be."
"So given that and the fact there was just twelve games of the season left then you can understand why the board decided to make the change when they did. I still remain confident that we would have gotten away from the bottom two and I still think that now."
"Looking back there were probably a couple of things I would have done differently and had we had a bit more luck we could and should have been sitting comfortably in mid-table. But you cannot wind the clock back and it is time to look forward both personally and for everyone involved at the club."
"Macclesfield is a great club and I thoroughly enjoyed my time at the Moss Rose and I would like to thank everyone for their help along the way. A lot of people have taken the time to call me which is something I really appreciate and I am sure I will keep in touch with them. The board were great with me and we certainly parted on amicable terms and I would love them do well. They certainly deserve to."
"It was a little strange not being involved last Saturday but with a young baby I am sure my wife will find things for me to do. I've no plans as of yet to find another role so it will probably be a case of taking a few weeks off and then to start to think about the future once my head is a bit clearer. It will certainly give me time to sort the lawn out though!"
And at Silkmen Online we would just like to extend our thanks to Ian who throughout his time in charge was always available and willing to help. Good luck Ian.
