Silkmen boss Ian Brightwell was in no mood to excuse the disappointment of the weekend defeat at Sincil Bank, a game that saw his team fail to hold onto a lead after Gareth Evans' early strike.

Ian and Asa - changes planned for Saturday?

"You saw the best of worst of Macclesfield on Saturday," bemoaned Ian. "At half-time things couldn't have gone any better. I thought we had dealt with all they had to offer, got the goal and silenced the home fans. As the manager of an away side that is all you can ask."

"You need players who want to throw their body on the line as was typified by Jonny Brain. He made two great saves, and in the course of the second got a whack to his head that required several stitches. We need more of that if we are going to achieve anything in the coming weeks."

"Asa and I impressed on the lads during the break that they would be looking to throw everything at us especially given the emotion of the day, as a result of the recent news about their boss Peter Jackson."

"Peter is a great bloke and I was as saddened to hear as anyone he was recently diagnosed with cancer. It kind of puts everything into perspective and we of course wish him well. But he would expect no favours from anyone which made our capitulation in the second half extremely disappointing."

"As a rule, despite our league position, there have been only a handful of occasions when I have felt let down by the team. And Saturday's second half performance was one of them, for me on a par with Mansfield and Rushden."

"We didn't clear our lines and gave up far too much easy possession. We simply have to do better than that and the lads were made aware in no uncertain terms what I felt. They fell below the standards I expect and what they should be demanding of themselves and that is probably what is most disappointing."

"After the great result against Morecambe we have been dragged down into the danger zone in the space of just two games. With sides around us winning there is no getting away from it, we need to pull our finger out!"

"We have two massive games at home against first Peterborough and then Notts County. We cannot afford to lose any of those two and I fully expect to make changes. Jon should be fit for selection and there is an outside chance Martin Gritton could be fit to play against County. There is limited scope to bring in any new faces as we are up to our quota for loan signings but we are looking at options as last Saturday was unexceptable."

"We need to develop more of a ruthless streak and do it quickly. Everyone talks of the 50 point margin to achieve safety. I reckon that is going to be about right this season and we've got thirteen games to prove to everyone that we are better than our current positions suggests."

"I under everyone's frustrations and I share them. I am not naïve enough to realise that we need to starting winning and that people are looking for change. But I have faith in what we are trying to achieve here at the Moss Rose and encourage everyone to get stick together over the next crucial few weeks."
