The Silkmen took a step closer to League survival after winning for the first time in 7 away from home, after goals from John Miles and Matty McNeil.

A combination of injuries and tactical changes give the Silkmen a new look. James Jennings, Rob Scott and Adam Murray all starting. The fist ten minutes didn't produce any actions with both team looking to

get a hold of the game, Tommy Lee first good save came after Simon Brown broke the offside trap but his shot was well saved by Lee's legs. After that the first half was filled with free kicks and corners but with no real attack from both sides the game picked up pace with minutes left in the half with bookings for both side and a powerful shot was punched cleared by Lee.

Half Time Mansfield 0 - 0 Macclesfield Town

Into the second half and it looked like both managers had said words in the dressing room as the half started brighter and both team looked like they wanted to win. In cane on Ronayne Benjamin for James Jennings.

But it look as the home side would take the lead first but a top class save from Lee kept the score level, within two minutes of that save it was the Silkmen who took the lead on 54 minutes after a great lay off by Matty McNeil found the feet of John Miles who calmly slotted the ball past Stags keeper Jason White 1-0.

With a goal in front the Silkmen pushed on looking for the second and in the 66 minutes it came via good link up play by Miles, Murphy and Miles again but his shot was only parried by white and waiting for the loose ball was MattyMcNeil who slotted home the second for the Silkmen and sending the traveling fans into ecstasy. 2-0.

But as soon as the goal went it the home side started to play and pulled a goal back two minutes later after an unchallengedJohnny Mullins was able to put a bullet header passed Lee and game on 2-1. The Silkmen were being forced back and back as the home side kept the presser up and when the ball found the head of Barry Conlon (who scored a hat-trick against the Silkmen this season) it looked as it was in but his header somehow went wide.

The last 10 minutes saw the Silkmen with their backs to the wall as the home side had attack after attack looking for the equaliser. But a header off the line by Danny Swailes and also with some block stops, brave saves it looked as the Silkmen had the points them five minutes of added time was put up and still the Stags came forward with corner after corner but again strong defence kept the home side at bay.

Then the ref blow the whistle you could here the cheers from the 222 travelling fans back in Macclesfield itself.
