Macca - nine from nine from the spot this season!

It was the Silkmen had the first chance of the game within 2 minutes, but the corner was dealt with by the Shakers back line. The home side's first attack came after a good ball in from the right was well claimed by Tommy Lee at his back post. Two minutes later again a cross from the right was not held by Lee and was knocked out for a corner which was early cleared away.

The Silkmen struggled to get hold of the ball as the rain started to pour down. It took just over 15 minutes for their first shot on goal after the ball found Jordan Hadfield just inside the area but his volley was hit straight into the ground and bounced up into the air and was held easily by Bury keeper Andy Warrington.

In the 23rd minute the Silkmen had a shout for a penalty, after a corner from the right was headed goalwards by Dave Morley only to hit John Murphy and bounce loose just inside six yard box and as both Carl Regan and Andy Warrington went for the ball. Regan looked to have been taken down but the ref and his assistant were on the spot to wave the shouts away.

Paul Ince's team made an early sub with Navarro going off and on loan midfielder Ashan Holgate replacing him and within seconds of the change Macc almost scored from a whipped in corner which found the head of McIntyre, who header went past the keeper but standing on the line was Paul Scott who cleared the ball away from danger.

Halftime: Bury 0-0 Macclesfield Town

It was the home side which came out better in the second half and within two minutes they had a corner which was cleared for another corner which again was cleared but Bury kept pushing forward. This time a low cross from the left found Andy Bishop, but the ball was well cleared by Tommy Lee.

The Shakers kept the pressure up with one shot just flying over the cross bar and one being well saved by Lee. The Towns second sub came just after the hour mark when Miles was replaced by on loan Blackpool winger Simon Wiles.

It was the home side which took the lead in the 75 minutes when Paul Scott cross down the left found the head of an unmarked Glynn Hurst, who headed the ball back past the helpless Lee and into the bottom corner of the net.

The goal looked to have knocked the stuffing out of Macc and panic started to set in and balls where being wasted time after time, with all eyes on the ref wondering how much injury time was to be played. The board went up saying 4 minutes and with it came the Silkmen last throw of dice, a quiet Bullock coming off and being replaced with Rob Scott. With the change came a tactical switch as skipper Dave Morley was then pushed upfront.

Into the last minute of injury time and a long ball into the Bury box found Morley who was them brought down and the referee gave a penalty. It was left to nerves of steel penalty king Kevin McIntyre who stepped up and after a short delay with the ref booking two players, he slotted the ball to the keepers left. Despite Andy Warrington getting a touch on it, the ball went in and the travelling fans knew the Silkmen had just got out of jail. It was Kevin's ninth spot kick of the season.
