Chester City vs Macclesfield Town
Saturday 3rd May 2008
Kick-off 3pm
The Silkmen head to Chester this weekend to complete their 2008/09 season safe in the knowledge that there is only now pride to play for after securing their league status last Saturday with a win over Chesterfield. The hosts are in the same boat after picking up the point they needed from their game in hand in the week which sets it up nicely for a relaxing end of season finale.
KEITH'S THOUGHTS ON THE GAME
"I was pleased that Chester picked up their point in the week as it allows me to experiment with the team selection. There are still a few players I have yet to see play so the game on Saturday will be a good chance to gauge what they can offer to the squad. But we are still going there to win as three points could see us move up a couple of places to a more respectable finish. Plus it would be good to sign off the season in style and reward the fans who have stuck by the team over the last nine months."
CURRENT HOME FORM:
After topping the table early on this season, City were in freefall until recent weeks, many making them one of the favourites for a bottom two place. But to the relief of everyone, new boss and ex Silkmen Simon Davies managed to secure enough points to ensure they will be taking their place in League Two next season. But like most sides in the division this season they have accrued more points on their travels than at home. They have picked up just four points from their last 11 home games.
Their form at home reads:- P22 W5 D4 L13 F21 A30 Pts 19
Wins against: Dagenham (4-0), Shrewsbury (3-1), Barnet (3-0), Bury (2-1), Darlington (2-1)
Draws against: Chesterfield (0-0), Hereford (1-1), Wycombe (2-2), Stockport (0-0)
Defeats to: Morecambe (1-0), Brentford (2-0), MK Dons (2-2), Peterborough (2-1), Grimsby (2-0), Mansfield (1-0), Rotherham (1-0), Notts Co (1-0), Rochdale (4-0), Accrington (3-2), Wrexham (2-0), Bradford (1-0), Lincoln (2-1)
EARLIER THIS SEASON:
The Silkmen were on the wrong end of a 2-1 defeat when City visited the Moss Rose in September. And it was former favourite John Murphy who got the all important first goal as the visitors went into the break two ahead. A solitary goal from Terry Dunfield on 53 minutes was all we had to offer in return.

HOW TO GET THERE
By Road
The ground is located out of town on an industrial estate. Stay on the M56 until you reach a roundabout at the end of the motorway. Follow the signs to North Wales & Queensferry A5117. After around one and a half miles you need to bear left on to the A550 (signposted North Wales & Queensferry). Then from the A550, take the A548 towards Chester. Head straight through the first set of traffic lights and after passing a Vauxhall and then a Renault garage on your left, turn right at the next lights (there is a Volvo Garage on the corner) into Sovereign Way. Continue to the end of Sovereign Way and then turn right into Bumpers Lane and the entrance to the Club car park is just down on the right. There is plenty of car parking available at the ground (£3), however if you use the club car park, it can be quite difficult to get away easily after the match.
By Train/Metro
Chester Station is a good 30 minute walk from the ground but well served by trains from Crewe and Manchester.
LATEST ODDS
Bet365 have the home side as 6/5 favourites. A Silkmen win is on offer at 15/8 and the draw priced at 12/5.
ONE TO WATCH
The much travelled Kevin Ellison tops the City goal chart with eleven to his name this season. Playing out wide or through the middle the lanky front man always gives 100% and is sure to cause the Silkmen defence a handful if selected, having missed out in the week against Stockport.
