Macclesfield Town Ladies FC

The present Ladies Club at Macclesfield Town started in 1997 when we fielded an Under 15 team in the Cheshire Girls League. Although the team won only one match that season (and finished bottom of the league!), the commitment and enthusiasm of the girls became the foundation of the Club, which has progressed so successfully every season. It's particularly pleasing that several girls who were part of the original Under 15 squad are still with the Club as key members of the open age teams! The Ladies Club has expanded to the extent that we now have eight teams with an age range from Under 10 to Open Age, with over 100 players, drawn mainly from Macclesfield, Congleton and the surrounding towns and villages.

The future of the Club looks promising as players progress through the age bandings and aspire to be the first team players of the future. Players until recently in the Under 14s and Under 16 sides are already regulars in the open age teams and this healthy competition for first team places can only be beneficial for the continuing improvement in our standard of football.

However, we have never regarded success only in terms of results on the pitch, and pride ourselves in being a friendly Club with an active social life, with a variety of events being held regularly throughout the year. On many occasions these events have been attended by players and officials of Macclesfield Town FC, which has been a real boost for the Ladies Club.
